What is native?
Native is a student events discovery platform that aims to deliver the best experiences to students. Our website and app show events in your city and now we power experiences like Aston University Welcome Week 2020.
This year we are supporting the Student Union community through the Coronavirus Pandemic by providing an out-of-the box virtual events solution, in addition to top quality online and socially-distanced events for freshers programmes.
What can I expect from Freshers’ 2021?
We’re confident that we’ll be able to provide you with a great, in-person Freshers’ Week this year that will be open to all Sussex students - new and returning!
Our priorities will always be to provide you with a diverse, fun, affordable programme with something for everyone. We’ll be following the government guidance on coronavirus carefully and will always create safe events, where full refunds can be given if they can’t go ahead.
Who can attend Freshers’ 2021?
Freshers’ is open to all Sussex students, new and returning. We understand that not all Freshers are the same and so there will be a diverse programme of events suitable for all.
There are often around 130 events scheduled in Freshers’ Week, with many of those suitable for those who don’t drink alcohol, who are still under 18, who are postgraduate or mature students, who may have caring or parental responsibilities, who may prefer quiet and calm environments over busy and loud ones and many more.
If you have any questions about accessibility for our events, please email email@example.com.
When will we know about the events that are taking place?
The events programme will be launched on A Level Results Day (10 August 2021) and then lots more events will be added after that!
Check out www.sussexstudent.com/freshers for the whole listings and only the official Sussex Freshers’ events.
When does Freshers’ start and end?
The main programme will start on Saturday 18 September 2021, but there will be events for those who may be moving in sooner.
Don’t forget to check out the University ‘Get Ready’ programme too!
The main programme will end on Sunday 26 September - but there are always lots of events at Sussex! Check out www.sussexstudent.com/whatson anytime to see what is happe ning on campus
What about Covid-19?
We receive news from the government about Covid-19 at the same time as you, so we’ll be monitoring everything closely to see if our events can go ahead as planned.
We will always prioritise your safety and we would appreciate you bearing with us whilst we adjust into the ‘new normal’ for Freshers’ Week.
Will there be virtual events too?
Yes! We know it’s likely there will be students who cannot come to campus right away, so we’ll be creating virtual opportunities for you to meet new students and get involved.
Keep an eye out on the events listings for more information.
Do you have a Freshers’ Fair?
Meet all of our clubs, societies, media groups, campaigns, support services and brand partners all under one roof! Freshers' Fair this year is due to take place on Monday 20th September. There will also be a digital version of the fair for those who can’t make or if you missed something on the day!
Is there a Freshers’ wristband?
The only place to buy official Freshers’ wristbands and tickets will be on www.sussexstudent.com/freshers. This year we have our Golden Ticket- which gives you access to our biggest four events at a fraction of the cost!
Other events are not associated with the Students’ Union or University. Please do not buy tickets to events unless you are sure they are official events to avoid disappointment. We cannot be responsible for refunds or cancellations of these events.
